
Mental Health Professional

We provide a highly visible and accessible entry point to services for people experiencing psychological distress, where all feel safe and welcomed.
- Our mental health clinicians offer an episode of care model based on short to medium term multidisciplinary collaborative care, aimed at improving psychological wellbeing for people with moderate to high levels of mental health need, whose needs are not being met through other services.
- They respond to people in significant distress, including people at heightened risk of suicide, providing support that may reduce the need for emergency department attendance.
- Additionally, they provide a central point to connect people to other services in the region, including through offering information and advice about mental health and AOD use, service navigation and warm referral pathways for individuals, and their carers and family.
Your Skills and Experience
- A tertiary qualification in a mental health discipline is required, such as Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing or counselling.
- Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), AASW, PACFA (Clinical registration) or ACA level 3 is also necessary.
- Furthermore, a current driver licence and access to a fully insured vehicle is mandatory.
- Mastery of a recovery-based and trauma-informed approach to assisting people with mental health concerns is essential.
- Familiarity with the NSW mental health system and local services is advantageous; alternatively, the ability to rapidly develop this knowledge is necessary.
- At least two years of experience in providing clinical assessments and evidence-based mental health interventions is required.
- Strong relationship building skills are also crucial to navigate, collaborate and develop partnerships within the NSW mental health system and local services.
