Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced HSE Specialist to join our team in Onslow, Western Australia.

About the Role

This is a 12-month contract with a high likelihood of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing practical environmental guidance to our site team, ensuring compliance with environmental regulatory requirements and driving environmental performance improvement using Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide environmental guidance to site teams, leaders, and business partners, focusing on compliance with environmental regulations and promoting environmental performance improvement.
  • Conduct field-based safeguard assurance verification and validation activities.
  • Support site-based environmental activities, including dangerous goods management, waste and environmental sampling, fauna management, and basic health and safety support as needed.
  • Buildding relationships with HSE, Business Partners, and other support teams to facilitate alignment and execution efficiency of environmental activities, safeguards, and processes.
  • Facilitate incident investigations and learning events using Chevron-approved methodologies, incorporating HOP principles.
  • Participate in emergency management exercises and emergency response as a member of the site Emergency Management Team.
  • Develop site environmental fluency.
  • Collaborate with Operations personnel to achieve environmental performance goals.
  • Manage spills and leaks.
  • Oversee waste management.
  • Conduct water sampling and analysis.
  • Handle hazardous materials and DG.
  • Address drainage and stormwater issues.
  • Manage PFAS.
  • Monitor air emissions.
  • Control lighting.
  • Manage fauna.
  • Maintain marine fauna awareness.
  • Develop vegetation and fire management strategies.
  • Implement risk management practices.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in environmental and dangerous goods management in a field environment and knowledge of relevant Western Australian HSE legislation.
  • Practical understanding of the updated OE management system and Human and Organisational (HOP) concepts.
  • Able to influence without authority and build respectful relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and adjust styles to provide clear guidance.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualifications in environmental management.
  • Extensive HSE experience.
  • Experience working in a resource company operating site, in health & safety.
  • Experience working on an oil and gas facility.

Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 AUD per annum, depending on experience.

Location: Onslow, Western Australia.
