Monash University is seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to join its prestigious Emerging Technologies Lab (ETLab) as an AI Energy Transition PhD Researcher. The successful candidate will be part of the university's world-leading research team, focusing on developing innovative solutions for sustainable energy futures.
The AI Energy Transition PhD Researcher position is designed to explore how artificial intelligence can support a more inclusive and efficient energy transition. This project will investigate the ways in which AI systems can align with diverse people's everyday priorities, values, and routines, ultimately leading to a more sustainable energy future.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who have completed undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in qualitative social science fields such as sociology, anthropology, human geography, or Science and Technology Studies. A strong background in ethnographic research methods and experience with qualitative data analysis are essential requirements for this position.
In exchange for your expertise and dedication, Monash University offers a competitive salary of AUD 42,483 per annum, plus additional benefits including a travel allowance, thesis allowance, and cost of living payment. We also provide access to state-of-the-art research facilities and a supportive academic environment that fosters collaboration and innovation.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. You should also be proficient in using digital tools and technologies, particularly those related to data analysis and visualization.
Please note that this position has a two-stage selection process. Candidates who pass the first stage will be invited to discuss their ideas with Professor Sarah Pink before developing a full proposal and submitting an application.
