Job Description

As a seasoned professional, we are seeking an experienced WHSQT Manager to join our team at Australian Steel Mill Services in Port Kembla.

Role Overview

We are a leading service provider to the Iron and Steel Producer in Port Kembla, specializing in handling, processing, and marketing of slag. The role offers a unique opportunity to lead our high-risk industry towards harm reduction and continuous improvement.

About the Role

The successful candidate will report to the General Manager and provide hands-on safety leadership to operational managers, ensuring a safe, effective, and Quality driven workplace.

  • Provide expert safety guidance to the team and lead them towards harm reduction and continuous improvement.
  • Support team members in risk assessments and management.
  • Lead environmental compliance and continuous improvement on site.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal audit programs and conduct regular audits against relevant ISO Standards.
  • Incident investigations, incident management processes, and reporting.
  • Prepare reports for customers and all levels of organization.
  • Lead worker compensation process and improve outcomes for employees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the contractor approval process as per ASMS policy and procedure.
  • Managing and providing support to contractors on site.
  • Leading site training programs to ensure compliance with skills accreditation and legal training.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety (minimum Cert IV - WHS).
  • Strong experience in WHS, Quality, Training, and Management Systems.
  • Proven experience in WHSQ management within heavy industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Work Health & Safety Act and relevant standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with WHSQ management software and tools.
Estimated Salary

$90,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience.
