Software Engineering Leader

About The Role:

Vinyl is a cutting-edge meeting AI designed for accountants and bookkeepers. Our mission is to empower professionals to capture, summarize, and action every client conversation efficiently.

We're a dynamic startup expanding across Australia, the UK, and the US. We're looking for an experienced Software Engineering Leader to drive our platform's growth, shape the product roadmap, and make key technical decisions as we expand our AI-powered workflow engine for the accounting industry.

Location: Sydney (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Development of Features:

Develop innovative features, systems, and integrations across our tech stack (React, Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, AWS).

Own Architectural Decisions:

Make informed architectural decisions that ensure performance, scalability, and reliability in our software architecture.

Collaborate with Founders and Product Team:

Work closely with founders and the product team to define priorities and drive project success.

Mentor and Grow a High-Performing Engineering Culture:

Guide and mentor junior developers, setting the standard for quality and shaping how the engineering team grows and scales.

What You'll Need:

Experience leading engineering efforts in SaaS or startup environments, confident in making major technical decisions.

Deep full-stack experience across React, Node.js, TypeScript, and PostgreSQL, with solid cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS preferred).

Bonus Points:

Experience with AI tools like OpenAI, Whisper, LangChain, etc.

Built integrations with Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Xero, or QuickBooks.

Background in transcription, NLP, or workflow automation.

Experience working with or building for accounting firms (e.g., XPM, Karbon, FYI Docs).
