Café Team Leader: Empowerment and Inclusion

The purpose of the role is to empower individuals with disabilities to develop skills, confidence, and experience needed to transition into mainstream employment. As a Team Leader, you will oversee day-to-day café operations while fostering an inclusive environment that supports employee growth and development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals with disabilities in developing skills and confidence through meaningful work experiences.
  • Mentor and guide team members to achieve individual employment goals and outcomes.
  • Delegate tasks aligned with safe work practices and commercial service standards.
  • Prepare and serve quality food and beverages while maintaining cleanliness and presentation.
  • Operate POS systems, handle cash and card payments, and manage customer orders.
  • Assist with inventory, stocktake, and supplier coordination to support café operations.
  • Partner with Employment Coaches to deliver on-the-job training and skill development.
  • Foster a supportive team culture focused on personal growth and teamwork.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate others and foster a positive team culture.
  • Able to mentor and support individuals with disabilities, helping them develop confidence and employment skills in a real-world setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and compliance requirements, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and collaborate across teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities, with a proactive mindset and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and café systems (such as POS), with the ability to manage time and tasks effectively.
