About the Role

The Financial Analyst role at Accela Research will use their strong analytical and critical thinking skills to support our research offering in oil and gas and expand into the built environment and mining sector.

Your focus will be to assess corporate decarbonisation strategies in these sectors and make recommendations based on your findings.

Working within Accela, you'll gain many learning opportunities to understand corporate strategy, assess transition performance, review decarbonisation levers, and understand how climate science and finance intersect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Company research coverage: Work across Accela's sectoral teams analysing transition strategies and performance of companies under coverage.
  • Financial and emissions analysis: Develop and maintain financial and emissions models with historical and forecast analysis.
  • Financial and emission modelling: Maintain complex financial and climate-related datasets and models.
  • Research and communications: Communicate research findings and recommendations effectively through reports, presentations, investor roundtables, roadshows and other means.
  • Assessing corporate climate frameworks, regulation and pathways: Stay up to date with climate frameworks, regulations and pathways for decarbonisation.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance/Commerce, Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or Science.
  • Proven experience as a financial or equity analyst or similar role, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative research abilities, with proficiency in financial modelling and valuation techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create complex financial models and perform data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements analysis and corporate financial disclosure.
  • Proficiency in using financial databases and software, such as Bloomberg and S&P Capital.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working in sectors we cover, including built environment/real estate, mining, oil and gas and climate.
  • Background in climate science and emissions modelling.
  • Understanding of low-carbon technologies and climate policies.
  • Familiarity with business development activities, including proposal writing and client engagement.
  • Experience with Tableau is welcome.
