Instrumental Music Teacher Position

Geelong High School is seeking a suitably qualified guitar and bass teacher to commence as soon as possible.

The school has a very active and expanding music department focused around an orchestral program. The successful applicant will have experience teaching students from beginner level through to more advanced senior VCE students.

  • Provide private lessons to students wishing to learn guitar and/or bass.
  • Support students through participation in ensemble groups and bands.

Applicants must be able to read music, not just play tab.

Applicants must be available to work on a Monday, incorporating orchestra and ensemble rehearsals after school until 5:15 pm. The second day is flexible and can be negotiated on appointment.

The role involves managing staff to achieve expected outcomes and providing business management responsibilities.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to a broad range of school activities and commit to ongoing professional learning and growth.

The position requires:

  • Be fully qualified to teach all guitar and bass instruments from beginner level to VCE.
  • Be able to teach both individuals and groups of students.
  • Work individually and in a team environment and assist with the development of the instrumental music program.
  • Promote the instrumental music program and assist with the recruitment of students into the program.
  • Be available for performance and rehearsals outside school hours which may be compensated with time lieu.
