Job Title:

English and Humanities Educator

Description:

The primary objective of this role is to devise, prepare and deliver educational programs aimed at achieving specific learning outcomes for students.

In the development of school policies and programs, teachers participate in various initiatives. They assist in implementing school priorities, teach their own classes, and contribute to policy development, project teams and organisational activities related to co-curricular activities.

This role plays a significant part in helping the school improve student performance and educational outcomes as outlined in the school's strategic plan and state-wide priorities. Additionally, classroom teachers are expected to contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and priorities.

The key responsibilities of the classroom teacher include but are not limited to:

  • Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;
  • Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;
  • Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;
  • Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;
  • Supervising and training one or more student teachers;

Key Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge in English and Humanities education, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with colleagues and manage multiple tasks.

The successful applicant will be responsible for increasing the knowledge base of staff within their school about student learning and high-quality instruction, modeling exemplary classroom practice, mentoring/coaching other teachers in the school, providing expert advice about content, processes and strategies that shape individual and school professional learning.
