About the Role

We are seeking a Sales Estimator to join our team at Ahrens, a fifth-generation, Australian family-owned company with 120 years' experience in delivering high-quality and cost-effective products and projects across Australia and overseas.

The successful candidate will provide estimates for water storage projects from concept to hand-over, manage and grow relationships with clients, and work closely with the Sales Manager and Operations Manager to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the 'buildability' of projects during the design phase to ensure that the design is generated in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Review preliminary specifications to determine scope of works.
  • Develop the project scope in consultation with the Operations Manager and the client.
  • Liaise with drafters, engineers, and other relevant professions to ensure practical and compliant designs.
  • Consult with the Contracts & Compliance team to agree commercial terms.
  • Ensure all tasks and plans are in accordance with legislation, regulation, and service requirements.
  • Send out and review pricing from approved subcontractors, suppliers, trades, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare tender submissions to clients.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key clients.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest design, innovation, codes, and standards in order to provide the best solutions to clients.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience estimating in commercial projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction drawings/methods and standards for tender submission.
  • High level of attention to detail with regards to reviewing and interpreting documentation supplied as part of a RFQ or similar.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Suite and similar products.
  • Basic knowledge of common ERP systems (SAP, Pronto).
