Senior Cost Manager

CPB Contractors is a leading international construction contractor with operations across Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager to oversee the financial performance of a large-scale remote construction project.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for budget control, budget preparation, and budget changes, as well as end-of-month reporting and preparation of month-end financial reports. They will also manage key subcontractor payment claims, commercial management of asphalt works, and preparation of client progress claims, including escalation analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the financial performance of the project
- Manage budget control, budget preparation, and budget changes
- Prepare end-of-month reports and month-end financial reports
- Manage key subcontractor payment claims
- Commercial management of asphalt works
- Prepare client progress claims, including escalation analysis
- Proven experience as a Senior Cost Manager, ideally on a large-scale construction project
- 15 years' experience in civil engineering, subcontract works, and self-delivery works on large-scale construction projects
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
- Strong mathematical and computer skills, proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong organisational, interpersonal skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to recognise discrepancies
- A pro-active approach with the capability to adapt to changing priorities
- Strong knowledge of cost management principles, estimating, and budgeting processes
- Proficiency in cost management software and tools (Power BI, Excel, bespoke packages)
- Excellent analytical, financial forecasting, and reporting skills
- Strong stakeholder management with the ability to lead discussions on project costs
- Experience in Defence and airfield project delivery is highly regarded
- Ability to meet Department of Defence security clearance requirements (DCAC)
