About the Role

Challenger Limited is a leading investment management firm managing a significant portfolio of assets. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our Group Financial Control team.

The successful candidate will provide hands-on financial control and accounting support to the team, owning the accounting process for Challenger Mortgage Management. They will be responsible for maintaining financial control processes, liaising with external trust accounting providers, and preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Control: Maintain financial control processes, act as support cover for the Challenger Group Services Accountant, and liaise with external trust accounting providers.
  • Consolidation / Cash Flow reporting: Prepare consolidation journals, review sub-consolidations, and prepare cash flow reports.
  • External Reporting / Statutory Reporting: Assist with preparation of the ASX listed annual report, prepare audit files, and deal with auditors.

Requirements

  • Working understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Identifying, assessing, and evaluating key financial controls in a finance function
  • Intermediate MS Excel experience with an ability to analyse large amounts of data
  • Financial Services Industry experience
  • Experience in accounting for mortgages and other financial instruments
