We're revolutionising Australia's energy landscape, and we need an experienced transmission line specialist to join our team.

About the Project:

UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion project will see approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission lines constructed, connecting Queensland's North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid.

The project scope includes:

  • 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
  • 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
  • 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa, up to six new substation sites

This exciting project will commence construction in 2024, and we are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to oversee the project's engineering aspects.

About the Role:

A successful candidate for this role will be responsible for ensuring project engineering completion is on time and within budget. Key responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
  • Monitoring quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, checking work drawings, construction, and specifications against site plans and conditions, and arranging corrections or modifications as necessary
  • Ensuring accurate forecasts of costs and revenue, utilising corrective action in line with JH's authority and reporting frameworks to maximise profit margins
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction work

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Building Construction, or equivalent
  • Diploma of Project Management in Engineering Science, Building, Construction, or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in engineering, with at least 4 years' site-based experience
  • Experience on projects exceeding $50 million in value
  • Strong communication skills, including negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationships with various stakeholders

Compensation:

The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000-$150,000 AUD, commensurate with experience.
