At SYSTRA, we are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of experts in the Rail sector. As a key member of our Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality consulting services to our clients across complex, multi-disciplinary projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical Systems Engineering expertise to clients and projects through the confident leadership of multi-disciplined teams.
  • Ensure the team provides clear and robust Systems Engineering solutions through a detailed understanding of complex rail infrastructure projects and programs, including Civil/Structures, Signaling & Train Control (ETCS, CBTC, ATP etc), Operations & Maintenance.
  • Capture and share client needs by building strong relationships and generating confidence through engineering excellence with a commitment to satisfactory outcomes.
  • Manage tenders & bids, including the production of documentation and delivery of client presentations/and or lead the technical contribution/formulation of project methodology.
  • Deliver projects to quality and time by coordinating multiple resources and the consistent management of commercial & financial drivers (project deliverables, contract interpretation, margin, utilization etc.).
  • Proactively seek consulting opportunities, communicating our broader Engineering & People capabilities and the value our Systems Engineering expertise brings to clients' projects.
  • Encourage team working & collaboration through open and transparent communication where individuals are empowered to share accountability within a project team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor level qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline or related discipline. System Engineering would be desirable.
  • Have obtained, or are working towards a chartered or equivalent professional status from a relevant institution (e.g. CPEng, RPEQ, NER, etc.).
  • Additional qualifications in Project Management, Engineering Management and/or Business Management is desirable.
  • Senior Systems Engineering experience within the Rail sector ideally in NSW with proven experience in client-side leadership positions such as a Technical Advisor and/or Systems Engineering / Assurance Manager is preferred.
  • A thorough knowledge of Systems Engineering processes and practices and Systems Engineering tools such as IBM, Rational DOORS, MBSE tools etc.
  • Experience in identifying, winning and developing new commercial opportunities across Systems Engineering and for the wider Organisation.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and manage teams and clients through sound leadership qualities.
