Job Title: Senior Prosthetist/Orthotist

Job Summary:

The Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association Ltd. (AOPA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Prosthetist/Orthotist to join our team. As a key member of our clinical leadership team, you will be responsible for providing clinical supervision and skill development of clinical and technical staff, as well as facilitating the uptake and integration of digital processes into the workstream.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the service, ensuring patient-centred care is prioritised in clinical, supervisory, and team activities.
  • Initiate, implement, and actively participate in Quality Improvement projects and activities in consultation with the Director AOPA and AHP3 Senior clinical staff.
  • Utilise experience in clinical leadership to contribute to service development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Exhibit full competency in technical processes, overseeing and training AHP2, AHP1, Technicians, and students of AOPA.
  • Manage a complex and varied clinical caseload of O&P inpatients and outpatients (of all amputation levels and differing orthotic pathologies), including technical work as required.
  • Form part of the department leadership team, supporting the AHP3 colleague and Director AOPA in all areas of operational management and service delivery.
  • Contribute to strategy, planning, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • The successful applicant must have experience working with third party funding bodies such as NDIS, Lifetime Support, and Workcover.

Requirements:

  • Master of Clinical Prosthetics & Orthotics or Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent.
  • Membership or evidence of eligibility for membership to AOPA.
  • Proven expertise in O&P service delivery and treatment.
  • Experience in clinical leadership within a discrete unit, including service development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.
  • Full competency in technical processes, with the ability to oversee and train others.
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of service delivery relating to O&P, clinical exposure equivalent to at least 8 years of experience.
  • Ability to analyse issues from all perspectives and make sound conclusions from the available information, with ability to identify and propose workable and sustainable solutions.
  • Current driver's license.
