Senior Associate - Environment & Planning Role

The environment and planning team at a leading law firm seeks a highly skilled Senior Associate to provide expert advice on environmental and planning matters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental risk management, pollution, renewable energy, waste management, native vegetation, contaminated land, strategic planning, environmental impact assessment, heritage law, land and environment court litigation, planning agreements, climate change, and sustainability.

  • Environmental risk management: Identify and mitigate potential environmental risks associated with various projects and activities.
  • Pollution and licensing: Provide guidance on pollution prevention, enforcement, and litigation related to environmental and planning matters.
  • Renewable energy: Advise clients on the development of wind and solar farms, including regulatory compliance and due diligence.
  • Waste management: Offer expertise on waste licensing, levies, and compliance issues, as well as waste reduction strategies.
  • Native vegetation and natural resource management: Provide guidance on the preservation and conservation of native vegetation and natural resources.
  • Contaminated land management: Develop remediation plans for contaminated sites and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Strategic planning: Assist clients in developing strategic plans for environmental and planning projects.
  • Environmental impact assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of potential environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Heritage law: Provide expertise on heritage law and its application to environmental and planning projects.
  • Land and environment court litigation: Represent clients in court proceedings related to environmental and planning disputes.
  • Planning agreements: Negotiate and draft planning agreements that meet the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Climate change: Advise clients on climate change-related matters, including policy and legislation.
  • Sustainability: Develop strategies for clients to achieve sustainable outcomes in their environmental and planning projects.

Applicants should be qualified lawyers with 5+ years' experience in an environment & planning practice. The ideal candidate will have a mix of advisory, transactional, and litigation experience.
