As a Parks and Gardens apprentice, you will gain valuable skills and knowledge in horticulture and landscape maintenance.

We offer a unique combination of on-the-job training and structured TAFE courses to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this field. You will work alongside experienced tradespeople and be immersed in a fast-paced, skills-focused environment. Your day-to-day tasks may include:

  • Gaining hands-on experience across landmark commercial and civic landscapes throughout Sydney.
  • Working for one of Australia's leading commercial horticulture and landscape maintenance providers.
  • Immersed in a fast-paced, skills-focused environment with strong on-the-job learning.
  • Assisting in the delivery of high-quality garden and turf maintenance across diverse commercial sites.
  • Applying herbicides and pesticides safely and effectively under supervision.
  • Learning plant identification, seasonal care routines, and pest/disease recognition.
  • Participating in structured TAFE training — combining theory with practical assessments.
  • Collaborating with experienced tradespeople and working as part of a dedicated landscape team.
  • Progressing toward completion of Certificate III in Parks and Gardens.
  • Developing technical skills in planting, pruning, soil improvement, and plant health care.
  • Operating basic horticultural machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assisting with the upkeep and minor repairs of irrigation and drainage systems.
  • Supporting the installation and maintenance of water features and softscape elements.
  • Learning environmentally sustainable practices and principles of land improvement and conservation.
