About the Role

We are seeking volunteers to join our Patient Transport team, providing a vital service to older and vulnerable people in our community. As a Patient Transport Volunteer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our clients receive safe, courteous, and respectful transportation to their medical appointments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide door-to-door transportation to clients, using Red Cross vehicles to transport up to three clients at once
  • Operate on weekdays, with regular shifts either weekly or fortnightly
  • Use a phone/tablet to manage transport bookings and communicate with clients
  • Assist clients with mobility aides, if required
  • Complete a National Criminal History Check prior to commencement and renewed every three/five years
Requirements
  • A current full Australian driver's licence, or equivalent
  • An excellent driving record
  • The ability to relate to and empathise with a broad range of older people, including those with different lived experiences, abilities, and cultures
  • Comfortable using technology, including phone/tablets and the app-based transport management system
