Electrical Design Drafter

Grid-Link, a forward-thinking engineering consultancy, is seeking a skilled Design Drafter - Secondary Systems to join our Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering design and drafting services in accordance with project requirements and applicable technical standards.
Key Responsibilities- Produce accurate drawings and designs on software platforms such as MicroStation and AutoCAD in consultation with design leads to meet client/project requirements.
- Apply and maintain high-quality standards on project deliverables.
- Coordinate design and engineering activities on time and budget.
- Plan and organize own work to meet established deadlines and quality expectations.
- Communicate effectively with the wider team and project stakeholders, including customers.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance if required.
- Participate in internal review meetings.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Demonstrated experience in Medium or High Voltage Electrical design drafting of Secondary Systems.
- A good understanding of electric power transmission and distribution systems, as well as protection, metering, and control systems in substations.
- A satisfactory level of competency with drawing preparation and production for electrical substations and medium voltage (MV) power reticulation design, including main single line diagrams; protection, metering and control single line diagrams; panel layouts; panel schematics; protection logic diagrams; equipment switching and interlocking diagrams; cable route layouts; cable termination diagrams; and cable and termination schedules.
- The ability to identify and rectify interface requirements with other design disciplines.
- The ability to interpret and implement design information provided by Secondary Design Engineers and Design Managers.
- Relevant qualification in design drafting (Diploma / Higher); tertiary studies are highly regarded.
- Experience working on utility and renewable energy projects.
