Become a Classroom Support Assistant

Job Description

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting young learners at the beginning of their academic journey. You will gain hands-on classroom experience in a supportive school-based environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist class teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Support individual pupils and small groups, including those with additional needs, to ensure they receive personalized attention and care.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes social skills, emotional well-being, and academic growth.
  • Contribute to pupil progress through observation, feedback, and assessment, helping to identify areas of strength and improvement.
  • Support teaching materials and classroom displays to maintain an organized and visually appealing learning space.
  • Promote positive behaviour and uphold school values by setting high expectations and encouraging responsible decision-making.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children is highly desirable but not essential.
  • A degree in any subject is essential – education-related degrees are desirable but not mandatory.
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education or working with children, demonstrated through relevant coursework, volunteering, or part-time work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and students.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting learning, with a focus on student-centered practices.
  • Up-to-date CV and enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
