Job Overview: News Corp Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to join our Technology, Digital and Data team as the General Manager of Commercial Data Platforms. This role involves people leadership, technology, and roadmap delivery across the technology components that make up our Commercial Data Platforms function.

The successful candidate will lead a team of AWS and data engineering professionals who are experts in data platforms that provide the ability for News Corp Australia to monetise its commercial data assets. This is a strategic leadership role within News Corp Australia's Technology division reporting to the Director of Commercial and Consumer Technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading a medium-sized technology team within a data engineering or digital domain.
  • Delivering outcomes by leading cross-functional teams of internal and external resources.
  • Experience with all phases of the SDLC using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Maintaining excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 12 years of engineering delivery / platform management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable experience with AWS and Google Cloud data engineering technologies.
  • A career that originated from a software engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of developer experience (any technology).
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis and the ability to consult and capture business requirements.
  • Media industry experience.
