Teaching Opportunity in Actuarial Science
Curtin University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Actuary to join our team as a Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of actuarial education and contribute to the development of our Actuarial Science program.
About the Role
We are looking for an Actuary with relevant industry experience to deliver high-quality teaching in our Actuarial Science program. As a Unit Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring a robust learning experience for our students.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching Excellence: Deliver high-quality teaching in our Actuarial Science program, including lectures, tutorials, and workshops.
- Student Supervision: Oversee and guide student projects, including Honours and Masters Theses as well as industry-related projects.
- Industry Insight: Bring your current industry experience into the classroom, bridging the gap between theory and practice and providing students with valuable, up-to-date perspectives.
- Engagement & Innovation: Contribute to the development of innovative teaching strategies and resources, ensuring our program remains at the forefront of actuarial education.

Selection Criteria
- Professional accreditation as an Actuary, ideally a Fellow, with at least 5 years of relevant, current industry experience.
- Proven high-level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning.
- A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice in Actuarial Science.
- Demonstrated experience in education, combining your knowledge of curriculum development and coordination of learning experiences with Actuarial Science expertise.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.
- An emerging record of peer-reviewed publications (desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to scholarship of teaching and learning with an emerging record of success in winning grants to support projects and initiatives (desirable).
