Schools Grounds Maintenance Officer

The primary objective of this role is to contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the school by providing high-level grounds care and facilities support to the Principal and Business Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional grounds maintenance services, encompassing regular mowing, watering, and soil management; lawn and garden maintenance, including weeding and insecticide/fertiliser application (adhering to WHS guidelines).
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, excluding jobs requiring a qualified tradesperson.
  • Manage garden waste and perform activities consistent with workplace health and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with the Principal/Business Manager or designated delegate on periodic maintenance matters.
  • Oversee oval maintenance through routine checks, maintenance schedules, and provision of necessary resources.
  • Plant, water, and care for trees, shrubs, gardens, and maintain grounds equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, tractors, and arrange regular servicing.
  • Pursue grounds improvement and enhancement initiatives, prepare, mark, and take general care of outdoor sporting facilities.
  • Liaise with internal and external personnel as required.
  • Demonstrate initiative on tasks and future projects.
  • Showcase positive disposition, good teamwork skills, and prior gardening experience.
  • Possess mechanical knowledge of garden equipment to inform administrative staff for repairs and maintenance.
  • Hold relevant certificates for the position.
