About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to join our team at the Washington State Department of Agriculture. As a GIS Analyst, you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining geographic information systems (GIS) databases, processes, and tools to support the needs of our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, processes, and tools to support the needs of our program.
  • Conduct research and analysis on new and emerging technologies related to field data collection and data management.
  • Provide training and support to field staff on the use of GIS tools and databases.
  • Develop and maintain digital help documentation to aid in the use of customized mobile and web mapping applications.
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify database requirements and develop updated GIS systems and tools.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in cartography, geography, photogrammetry, geographic information systems, computer sciences, remote sensing, land survey, civil engineering, natural resources, or a closely related field.
  • One year of professional cartographic or geographic information systems production experience.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcPro and ArcGIS Online, with experience in feature service data management, field maps, survey 123, and story map creation and editing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience with ESRI ArcPro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with writing custom ArcGIS-based Python scripts or Model Builder.
  • An interest and experience with natural resources and agriculture.
