We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Financial Markets Technology Team at Westpac. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of our Market Risk Application Program.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to a small team of technical specialists in data engineering and development.
- Data Engineering: Design, develop, and implement large-scale data engineering solutions using Python, PySpark, and Palantir Foundry.
- Agile Project Management: Participate in sprint planning, ensure coding standards and patterns are implemented, and perform hands-on work and lead technical activities across the Software Development Lifecycle.
- People Management: Provide leadership and guidance to a small team of technical specialists, actively encourage professional development, and innovative practices.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop strong relationships with L2/L3 support teams, other technical leads, business teams, and SMEs to understand the business context and requirements.
- Technical Expertise: 10+ years of experience in data engineering design, coding, and development, with expertise in Python, PySpark, and Palantir Foundry.
- Leadership Experience: 5+ years of experience leading a team of developers, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects.
- Financial Markets Experience: Experience working in financial markets and/or market risk banking is highly desirable.
- Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile teams and participating in sprint planning.
- Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline.
