Casual positions available in a dynamic environment with varying hours depending on availability and workload. Located in Sydney CBD, The Domain.

This is a display technician role that requires the ability to move, install and maintain works of art within the gallery and specified external institutions in a safe manner.

We are seeking a diverse, collaborative, supportive and dedicated individual to work alongside our existing talent and build on our rich history to create an even more inspiring Art Gallery for the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain exhibition/gallery spaces by preparing and unpacking, packing, moving and correctly storing artworks, display furnishings, and associated materials.
  • Operate power tools and mechanised lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Identify, assess, document and mitigate risks to people and art, underpinned by a working knowledge of the structure and fabric of buildings, current museum conservation principles, and WHS requirements.
  • Interpret architectural plans, technical specifications and work, health and safety documentation and to communicate and document installations.
  • Physically resilient and able to undertake repetitive manual handling, stand for long periods of time, and cover significant distances each day.

Requirements:

  • Able to lift, carry and manoeuvre heavy loads.
  • Ability to work at heights and from ladders.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation, codes and standards.
