As a Site Supervisor with QinetiQ Australia, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our Makerspaces, ensuring the smooth delivery of projects and programs. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising the maintenance of consumable levels, machine readiness, and housekeeping
  • Managing client inductions and technical training, including coordination and delivery
  • Administering safety systems and implementing health and safety protocols
  • Managing equipment and consumable inventory
  • Supporting local innovation activities and events
  • Assisting in the development of site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Collecting and reporting facility and equipment usage data
  • Assisting users in developing creative problem-solving and ideation skills through technical guidance and support
  • Consulting with users to identify project support requirements
  • Working with the user and Makerspace support network to develop a technical support plan
  • Setting up and running makerspace operational processes to deliver on unit innovation and experimentation goals
  • Troubleshooting equipment and project problems, reporting to stakeholders as necessary
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Minimum 5 years of technical trades experience in Electronics, IT, Electrical, Fitter machinist, or Mechanical, or minimum 2 years of engineering experience in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a similar discipline
  • Experience working on design and prototyping unique solutions or low-rate production runs
  • Experience with fabrication machines and associated software, including Laser CNC, 3D printing, PCB printing, VR/AR development, software programmable kits, and smart applications
  • Ability to coach and mentor users to achieve project requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the operation of fabrication machines and associated software
  • Ability to research and select off-the-shelf software solutions for timely project recommendations
  • Australian Defence security clearance eligibility
