About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Drug and Alcohol Expert role at International SOS is a critical position within our organization's Drug and Alcohol team. As a CNS, you will play a key role in providing clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with drug and alcohol use disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to healthcare teams on best practices in drug and alcohol treatment and management.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for patients on opioid substitution treatment programs (OSTPs).
  • Collaborate with local and external stakeholders to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
  • Conduct specialist assessments and provide management of withdrawal states, pharmacotherapies, intoxication, and overdose states.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to drug and alcohol treatment and management.

Requirements

  • Current AHPRA Registration as a Div. 1 Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience working with people with drug and alcohol use or concerns, in a D&A setting, including experience in opioid substitution treatment.
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills and management of alcohol and drug issues.
  • Good knowledge of harm minimization principles.
  • Current BLS or First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain it).
