Job Summary

The Senior Financial Accountant role is a senior position within the Queensland Government, responsible for managing the financial aspects of asset accounting. The successful candidate will work closely with the QSS Assets team to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.

The role involves providing expert advice to Business Groups on asset policies, including Capital Work-in-Progress, acquisitions, disposals, transfers, changes to useful lives, and revaluations. This requires a strong understanding of asset management principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Financial Reporting: Manage the financial reporting process for asset accounting, ensuring that all reports are accurate and timely.
  • Provide Asset Policy Advice: Provide expert advice to Business Groups on asset policies, including Capital Work-in-Progress, acquisitions, disposals, transfers, changes to useful lives, and revaluations.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure DPI's compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and Queensland Treasury's Non-Current Asset Policies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require a relevant degree and membership of a recognized accounting body, such as CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA). International qualifications may also be considered if assessed against the Australian Qualifications Framework.

A strong understanding of asset management principles and practices is essential, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize multiple tasks is also critical.
