At BDO Australia, our core values are built around empowering people and realising possibilities. We achieve this by hiring and developing exceptional talent to deliver a wide range of advisory, audit, and accounting services.
Role DescriptionThe Data Engineer/Architect will work on client projects that address complex business and social issues across various industries. As part of a highly skilled and award-winning team, you will focus on both technical and business aspects of data, analytics, and AI. This will make you a well-rounded and valued data professional.
Your colleagues have expertise in various technical disciplines, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, the modern data stack, and cloud technologies. They will also help you develop your business acumen across finance, economics, project management, business strategy, and transformation.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop data-driven solutions to real-world challenges, providing tangible, measurable value to our clients.
- Design and develop fit-for-purpose data models.
- Think through complex conceptual scenarios and develop multiple hypotheses.
- Establish cloud infrastructure solutions.
- Integrate data from multiple sources.
- Develop data pipelines for production environments.
- Create enterprise-ready data architectures.
- Attend client meetings and workshops with executives and senior management.
- Document system and project requirements.
- Assist in the continual improvement of our data practice.
We are looking for people who are genuinely curious and enjoy working through complex business and data issues where there is no one correct answer. Ideally, you have a strong work ethic and can work both within a team environment and independently.
You must have the technical ability to contribute to the development of an analytics solution. At the same time, you will make a concerted effort to understand why the solution is being developed and the value it creates for the organization. You understand that sometimes a simple solution provides greater value than a more complex one.
Requirements- Relevant tertiary qualification or suitable work experience in lieu of qualifications.
- Experience in data engineering and architecture, with versatility across roles highly valued (position and remuneration dependent on experience).
- Exceptional data modeling capability, including conceptual, logical, and physical modeling.
- Strong Python or SQL skills.
- Experience in delivering secure, scalable cloud data platforms ranging in complexity.
- Experience with modern data orchestration and transformation tools.
- Proven ability to take disparate data sources of varying quality and integrate them to deliver value as part of productionized data pipelines.
- Experience in identifying and developing current, transitional, and future-state data architectures.
- An understanding of data security, observability, and networking principles and implementation methods.
- Experience working in a consulting environment is desirable.
