Job Title: Culinary Education Expert

Job Description:

As a culinary education expert, you will be responsible for developing and teaching a higher education program in tourism and hospitality management that aligns with the Higher Education Standards Framework. You will provide professional and skilled teaching services, ensure effective learning experiences, offer feedback and support to students, and maintain accurate records of student progress and assessments.

  • Teaching and Learning
    • Deliver independent teaching in the relevant discipline and coordinate or lead other staff as required.
    • Ensure engaging learning environments, provide feedback and support to students, and assess student learning outcomes using both formative and summative assessments.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessments and report student progress to relevant parties.
    • Identify and support students at risk of failing and implement timely intervention strategies which should be recorded in student's records.
    • Participate in teaching and learning meetings and collaborate with other teaching staff.
    • Pursue new and effective teaching methodologies and strategies.
  • Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Professional Development
    • Participate in professional development activities to enhance the quality of teaching and stay up-to-date with current principles and practices.
    • Develop, trial, and implement improved teaching methods.
    • Maintain active membership of professional connections.
  • Service to the Institution
    • Report incidents of potential breaches of policies governing students.
    • Report incidents where staff or students are not showing care for the physical facilities of the institution.
    • Report health and safety risks and incidents and arrange first aid treatment when necessary.
    • Assist with duties required to advance the fieldwork placement program.
    • Perform other administrative duties as directed.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hospitality and/or tourism leadership experience coupled with a minimum of a master's degree in tourism, hospitality, or in food and beverage environment. They must be able to relate to current culinary practices and standards in the field. A proven cross-cultural communicator who is empathetic towards students, specifically international students' needs, is essential.
