Salary: The successful candidate will receive an annual salary ranging from $69,040 to $90,800, plus 25% casual loading per hour.
Job Description:
OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical professional to join our team as a Casual Emergency Department Trainee Medical Officer. You will be responsible for managing the care of patients allocated to you in the Emergency Department at the Southern Fleurieu Health Service.
You will work collaboratively with medical staff, nurses, and allied health professionals to provide patient care, including providing code blue support after hours for the inpatient medical unit and participating in a 24-hour 7-day roster to staff the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate the discharge process at the earliest opportunity, including ordering drugs and equipment, arranging post-discharge management and follow-up in consultation with the patient's normal carers and General Practitioner, and writing an accurate discharge letter or summary.
- Provide effective and accurate clinical handover of patient care at the change of shifts.
- Participate in continuing education activities and continuous Quality Improvement activities.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
- Fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Some Emergency Department experience in a clinical capacity.
- Some paediatric patient management experience.
- Demonstrated competency in a range of routine and common emergency procedural skills.
- The ability to work under pressure without compromising patient care.
