Lighting Department Head

This is a leadership role responsible for the overall performance and growth of the lighting team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement processes to improve team effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with directors, production managers, and artists to ensure high-quality lighting and composition.
  • Maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge in lighting tools and procedures.
  • Streamline lighting processes across all productions to reduce crew members per show.
  • Stay ahead of industry technological advances by developing new pipelines and software.
  • Establish training programs for junior artists and mentor others in technical procedures and workflows.
  • Report on technical needs across departments and define lighting and compositing show templates.
  • Partner with management to guide artists' professional development and maintain positive morale.
  • Foster cross-departmental communication and collaboration.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience in lighting.
  • Strong understanding of cameras, lenses, and colour management.
  • Experience in scripting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
