Heavy Duty Mechanic Role

We are currently seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our mining operation at an open cut mineral sands mine in the picturesque southwest.

This is a full-time, permanent position working a 38-hour week compressed into a 9-day fortnight, with every second Friday off.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting routine and complex maintenance and testing procedures on plant equipment including heavy mobile plant, trucks, and earthmoving equipment. They will also perform fault diagnosis, installation, maintenance, and repair tasks across site equipment and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a Trade Qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent) with at least 3 years' experience. They will have previous experience working as a heavy diesel mechanic, maintaining fixed and mobile plant in the Mining sector (or similar). They will also have strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and precision, good communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated strong commitment to safety, and ability to work independently or as part of a cohesive, multi-trade maintenance team.

About this role:

This Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for performing daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance activities for mobile equipment, wet plant operations, and site services. They will also strictly adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and precision, good communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated strong commitment to safety, and ability to work independently or as part of a cohesive, multi-trade maintenance team.
