Dental Hygienist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Hygienist to fill this role.

The ideal candidate will play a vital part in promoting and maintaining the oral health of ADF personnel, delivering high-quality care in a well-supported clinical environment.

  • Deliver oral hygiene advice and treatments according to Defence policies.
  • Perform periodontal charting, root planing, implant maintenance, and other routine procedures.
  • Take and interpret prescribed radiographs (intra/extra oral).
  • Promote infection control and maintain surgical hygiene to national standards.
  • Manage patient care, referrals, records, bookings, and recalls.
  • Support clinical governance, quality improvement activities, and equipment upkeep.
  • Ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

Requirements

  • A recognised qualification in Dental Hygiene (or Oral Health Therapy).
  • Current unconditional and unrestricted registration with AHPRA.
  • At least 2 years of experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a clinical setting.
  • Proven ability to perform a wide range of dental hygiene procedures independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative team approach.
  • High standards in infection control and patient care.
  • Australian Citizenship – required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
