About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Mental Health Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at headspace Maitland. As a key member of our service, you will play a vital role in providing intake and assessment, ongoing counselling, treatment, and support to young people aged 12-25.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide initial intake and assessment of young people, identifying strengths and needs to develop effective treatment plans.
  • Deliver brief interventions and seek to develop and maintain appropriate referral pathways within the local service system.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide therapeutic intervention, group work, and community awareness activities that promote positive mental health outcomes for young people.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, or Occupational Therapy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health issues affecting young people and their families, best practice treatment options, support services, and co-morbidities.
  • Experience working with young people experiencing mental health issues and their families to assess strengths and needs, develop treatment plans collaboratively, and support engagement in services during challenging times.
