About the Role

Symal Infrastructure is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our team in Mount Fox, Queensland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and working closely with our delivery team to minimize our impact on the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental Management Systems: Develop and lead the maintenance of environment and sustainability management systems across the project.
  • Incident Response and Investigations: Manage environmental incident response and investigations, ensuring all potential risks are mitigated, in conjunction with the wider HSEQ team.
  • Compliance and Guidance: Provide environment and sustainability guidance and ensure there is a consistent approach to compliance across the project.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate multiple work fronts and consultants to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a high level of compliance to project management systems, contract requirements, and legislative requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with and work closely with the wider delivery team, client, and government bodies on related environmental matters on the project.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.
  • Post-graduate Qualifications: Post-graduate qualifications in the environmental field and/or project management is highly regarded.
  • Professional Certifications: ISC Sustainability Accreditation (desirable) and certification under a nationally recognized professional program in Erosion and Sediment Control or similar.
  • Experience: Approximately 5-10 years with relevant experience in HSEQ within the construction industry.
  • Willingness to Work Away from Home: Willingness to work away from home in a camp environment.
  • Queensland Experience: Experience working in Queensland (ideally).
