Job Description

The Field Operations Specialist role is based at Sugar Research Australia's Mackay site, providing essential support for field operations and trial activities. Under the direction of the Field Operations Leader, this position conducts a range of tasks to ensure the successful execution of trials, including land preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilizer and herbicide application, sampling, and harvest.

About the Role

This position is located in Mackay, with work primarily based on SRA farms but also including offsite trials. The ideal candidate will have experience working within sugarcane or other crop industries and be able to operate agricultural machinery safely and accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical work in challenging environmental conditions, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Apply knowledge of agricultural practices to support scientific experimentation.
  • Operate various types of agricultural equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Develop a reliable and professional work ethic.

Your Requirements

  • A current manual driver's license is required to drive SRA vehicles.
  • ACDC chemical certification is highly desirable.
