Qube Ports is a leading provider of port solutions and logistics services in Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia. Our company manages 25 sites for the forestry industry and provides supply chain logistics services to the energy sector.
About the Role
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the Transport and Mining Haulage operation in Tasmania. This includes ensuring safety in the workplace, managing training of employees, and directing the performance of the operations management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure effective communication of standards, expectations, and procedures to the operational team.
- Review and manage training of employees to ensure qualified manpower is available for all operations.
- Direct and manage the performance of the operations management team to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
- Liaise with Agents and Vessels' Chief Officer to ensure all tasks are coordinated consistent with sequence of discharge and load plans.
- Participate in Safety Committee and ERC meetings to ensure meetings are focused and outcome-driven.
- Communicate and liaise with vessel Chief Officers and client representatives to ensure performance objectives are achieved according to the vessel plan.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with employment terms, OH&S, and Environmental legislation and company policy.
- Resolve queries and issues raised by the workforce relating to policy and practice.
- Manage the conduct of Risk Assessments and the development of safe work methods and required documentation.
- Monitor hazard and near miss reports and conduct safety observations.
- Monitor and ensure recommendations for corrective action are closed off within specified time frames.
- Provide Shift Managers with formal performance feedback through the Performance Management & Development process.
- Review incidents of employee policy breach, investigate, and lead implementation of appropriate action.
- Review incidents of poor employee performance and lead implementation of appropriate action taking into account employee employment terms and conditions.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have management experience in the stevedoring or similar industry, experience in high-risk operating environments, and understanding of operational capabilities of machinery and lifting gear.
