Creative Director

As a key member of the Country Road Group team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of our Menswear ranges. This role involves overseeing the creation of fashionable, customer-focused, and well-balanced ranges that meet business requirements and align with our brand image.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic design briefs that cater to the Country Road core customer, ensuring ranges are on-trend and meet seasonal color palette requirements.
- Provide direction on concept and color boards through research and development into emerging trends.
- Responsible for the design and development of the Country Road Menswear range, ensuring it meets brand image, option plan, price points, and margin.
- Conduct competitor analysis in both domestic and international markets.
- Liaise with the Planning Manager to ensure styling and ranges meet business requirements and work within option plan guidelines.
- Analyze weekly sales reports to determine bestsellers, sell-throughs, and problem styles/colours.
- Ensure maximum potential is maximized in each class by driving repeats, consolidations, re-prices, and markdowns.
- Liaise and build relationships with overseas agents and key vendors to communicate styling and design concepts.
- Select vendors based on quality standards, product construction, price, and minimums in conjunction with production.
- Brief off-shore agents/vendors to meet product requirements, provide spec sheets, and work with vendors and agents on raw material and component selection.
- As required, attend overseas trips with the Design team to gain creative inspiration and guide the design team on styles, color, and fabrications (research overseas trends and markets; purchase samples relevant to the range).
- As required, undertake order procurement trips to relevant vendor bases to secure orders and negotiate strong FOB agreements.
- Lead and motivate team members to work cohesively to achieve the creative vision and direction.
- Drive a performance-driven culture through a focus on team members' skills and capability development.
- Provide training and development to direct reports to ensure they are effective in their roles.
- Implement performance management processes in line with HR guidelines to support succession planning.
Key Capabilities:
- Previous experience in product design and development, Menswear essential.
- Experience building ranges taking into account core, seasonal, and aspirational elements.
- Experience sourcing and working with overseas vendors, particularly in China and India.
- Experience designing overall casual, urban, and career lifestyles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong fabric and technical knowledge.
