Job Overview

As a dedicated mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 10 to 17 who are involved with the youth justice system. Your primary goal is to help them overcome challenging behaviors, build resilience, and re-engage positively with their families and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships with young people to foster engagement and personal growth.
  • Provide tailored support based on individual needs, drawing from your expertise in trauma-informed practices.
  • Assist young people in transitioning successfully from detention to community life, promoting engagement with family, education, employment, and housing opportunities.
  • Implement mentoring interventions that improve wellbeing, reduce offending behavior, and promote positive social behaviors.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and shared outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Youth Justice, Child Youth and Family Intervention, Human Services, or similar.
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Queensland Driver license.
