Job Description

The Clinical Lead for Antimicrobial Stewardship will oversee the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Epworth HealthCare across all Epworth sites, design and establish a new model of Antimicrobial Stewardship at Epworth Health using a fee-for-service model, and provide clinical expertise and leadership to the Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacists.

The ideal candidate will have a Medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent), Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians or equivalent, eligibility for Specialist registration with AHPR, Specialist training in Infectious Diseases, and proven experience in antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and education to Epworth Medical employees, pharmacists and Nursing employees as relevant, driving change, innovation and improvement in antimicrobial use at Epworth HealthCare, leading and ensuring compliance for Antimicrobial stewardship with Accreditation standards is achieved, and achieving cost-effective, high-quality use of antimicrobials and reduce the incidence of antimicrobial resistance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and establish a new model of Antimicrobial Stewardship at Epworth Health using a fee-for-service model
  • Provide clinical expertise and leadership to the Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacists
  • Provide expert advice and education to Epworth Medical employees, pharmacists and Nursing employees as relevant
  • Drive change, innovation and improvement in antimicrobial use at Epworth HealthCare
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Eligibility for Specialist registration with AHPR
  • Specialist training in Infectious Diseases
  • Proven experience in antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases management
