The role
ALS Geochemistry is seeking Sample Preparation Technicians to join our Sample Preparation department.
Sample Preparation Technicians are responsible for operating machinery that crushes, splits, and pulverizes mineral samples for laboratory testing. This role is set in a dynamic, dusty environment where prior production experience and flexible availability are advantageous.
This Casual position involves working on an Afternoon Shift schedule: Monday through Friday, from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handling rock, core, and drill samples
- Operating sample preparation machinery, including crushers, pulverizers, splitters, and scales
- Performing routine manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Sorting and labeling samples accurately
- Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator
- Collaborating with team members to meet daily production goals
Essential Qualifications:
- Physically and mentally fit to perform repetitive manual tasks
- Reliable and responsible with excellent attendance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in number recognition
- Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols accurately
- High attention to detail
- Integrity and respect towards colleagues
- Commitment to quality, safety, and productivity
- Willingness to work in a challenging environment with dust and noise
