A New Opportunity Awaits: Residential Support Specialist
We are seeking highly motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Residential Support Specialists, providing individualised support for children and young people residing in Kirinari OOHC homes.
Our young people have experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect, and may have mental health, physical, or psychosocial disabilities. We require team members who can provide crisis intervention and ongoing support, maintaining a safe and welcoming home environment, and empowering young people to develop skills and strengths within a therapeutic model of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct person-centred support and care to young people, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Crisis intervention and ongoing support to promote stability and well-being.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming home environment, fostering a sense of belonging among residents.
- Empower young people to develop skills and strengths, promoting independence and self-confidence.
Requirements:
- Demonstrate a commitment to the safety and well-being of children, young people, and people with a disability.
- Understanding of strength-based trauma-informed practice, with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Qualifications in Community Services, Residential Care, Welfare, or related areas (Cert IV) are highly regarded.
- Previous experience in residential therapeutic care and complex trauma is highly valued.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to think clearly and act quickly.
- Able to undertake physically demanding tasks associated with equipment use and customer transfers.
- Mentally and emotionally resilient, with a genuine interest in learning and personal growth.
