About Aboriginal Health Worker Role

This position is open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people who have a genuine occupational qualification. It is based on section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

As an Aboriginal Health Worker, you will collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure that Aboriginal people have access to appropriate healthcare services. You will also develop and implement health promotion programs tailored to the needs of the Aboriginal community, focusing on the Chronic Disease Model of Care for Aboriginal People.

The Out of Home Care Health Pathway Program is a partnership between NSW Health and the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). It provides a health response for children and young people in statutory Out of Home Care in NSW.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community development initiatives as part of a team
  • Contribute to improving the health of Aboriginal families by providing high-quality, culturally sensitive care
  • Liaise between clinical teams, government stakeholders, and non-government organizations
