High Performing Legal Leader

We are seeking an exceptional leader to helm our legal function. As the Assistant General Counsel, you will spearhead a high-performing team in delivering best practice legal and governance services.
The role reports to the Director, Legal Services & General Counsel and manages a diverse portfolio spanning administrative law, commercial and contract law, statutory interpretation, workplace relations, litigation, privacy, freedom of information (FOI), and governance.
- Provide strategic legal guidance aligned with organisational objectives.
- Lead a team fostering a high-performing culture focused on engagement with the business, risk assessment, and leveraging technology.
- Drive strategic legal management and communicate insights effectively to key stakeholders.
- Position the legal team as a trusted business partner by supporting organisational goals.
- Develop effective internal and external stakeholder relationships to strengthen compliance, governance, and informed decision-making.
Key responsibilities include championing people development, driving improvement in how the legal and governance function engages with the organisation, exercising sound judgment in assessing legal risk, and prioritising high-impact matters while streamlining or deferring lower-risk issues to maximise efficiency.
