Family Services Practitioner Role

About the Role

The Family Services Practitioner plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality services to children, young people, and their parents/caregivers. This involves working collaboratively with service providers, using evidence-informed approaches to lead to improved outcomes for families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering assessment and time-limited case practice interventions that promote improved safety and stability within families.
  • Developing an understanding of family violence causes and theoretical underpinnings of working with families affected by it.
  • Providing written reports and maintaining accurate client records through case notes on the required database.
  • Contributing to ongoing evaluation processes focused on client outcomes, service responsiveness, and flexibility.
  • Engaging in collaborative teamwork to develop the team's capabilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, applicants require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Welfare, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in case management working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Experience working in child protection or similar environments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant theories, intervention approaches, and understanding of child safety, child development, and trauma impacts.
  • Understanding of goal setting, review, family safety planning, and MARAM framework principles.
