About Our Shop in Exmouth

Children's Hospice South West is seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Retail Assistant to join our team in Exmouth. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a thriving shop that makes a real difference in the local community.

The Role

You will be responsible for serving customers, sorting and displaying stock, handling cash, and following health and safety procedures. You will also have the opportunity to plan, prioritize, and delegate the workload of volunteers, assisting the manager in creating a positive working culture and a happy working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serving customers with excellent communication skills
• Managing stock and displays to maintain a visually appealing shop front
• Handling cash and operating a till system
• Following health and safety procedures at all times
• Planning, prioritizing, and delegating volunteer workload
• Assisting the manager in maintaining a positive working culture

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
• Experience of working in retail or a customer service position
• The ability to work as part of a team and use your own initiative when needed

Training and Support

We provide full on-the-job training, including opening and closing the shop, using the till and CHSW systems, and stock display. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge through regular training and development sessions.
