The Structures Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of V/Line's civil assets, including bridges, culverts, platforms, and tunnels. This position involves performing scheduled and unscheduled inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety and rail standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of civil assets to identify defects and maintenance needs
- Write detailed reports on inspections, including recommendations for maintenance priorities
- Advise management on civil asset conditions and ensure inspections follow the Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP)
- Update the database with asset conditions and align updates with V/Line's risk management system
- Respond to emergencies after hours and identify urgent actions to maintain structural integrity
We are seeking an autonomous and qualified structures inspector with a strong safety focus, technical understanding of structural assets, and good report-writing skills. The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate 3 in Rail Infrastructure, a current Victorian Driver's License, and Bridge Inspector Level 1 or 2 certification. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a trade certificate is highly regarded.
