Job Description

The Residential Construction Estimator is responsible for:

  1. Accurate Cost Estimation: Prepare and document estimates for tenders, variations, and re-tenders.
  2. Site Costs Calculation: Calculate fixed site costs and quantities, maintaining inventories for standard options.
  3. Stakeholder Management: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders such as Sales, Gallery, Operations, and Suppliers, Trades, and Construction.
  4. Pricing and Margin Consideration: Provide accurate pricing for contracts and variations, considering appropriate margins.
  5. Civil and Structural Engineering: Interpret plans to derive accurate site costs.
  6. Cost Estimates for Changes: Provide cost estimates on changes to a dwelling to assist sales.
  7. Task Completion and Timeframe Achievement: Complete set tasks and achieve job targets within designated time frames.
  8. Quote and Pricing Acquisition: Obtain relevant quotes and pricing for non-standard variations.

About You

  • Previous estimating experience within residential building and construction (preferred).
  • Tertiary/TAFE qualification in Building and Construction.
  • Current working knowledge of the Residential Building Code and Australian Standards (BCA) / (NCC).
  • Analytical skills and competency reading architectural plans, engineering, and soil reports.
  • Strong numerical skills, high attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong customer focus.
  • Ability to proactively problem solve and troubleshoot.
